Taushey's approach fosters an open and healing platform for students to express themselves confidently. Her mission is to instill self-belief, guiding individuals to trust their innate talents and hard work on the path to personal success. How did you come up with your business concept? What inspired you to start your own business?
I came up with a my Vocal Coaching concept “Taushey’s Vocal Lab” during the pandemic of March of 2020. I I was in college student, a vocal performance major, outstanding student recipient on scholarship. I was always asked to help assist my professors in the music department at MCC to lead the other students in my classes. To the point where the students started to ask me for help and asked me for my guidance musically and vocally. I begin to really have a passion for teaching, developing in and cultivating their musical gifts and help bring there dreams until a reality.
What’s your background? Could you tell us how each of these disciplines emerge in your work?
I have a musical family background. I was brought up in the church. My dad is a Pastor and my mom is a jazz/church Musician. I’ve been singing, since the tender age of 3 years old and me and my family had a singing group called “Ami Sias & The Sias Family traveling, & recording. I was the youngest, boldest one in my family group Back then mom yes to tell me stories about me critiquing people who couldn’t sing back then. I guess I was always predestined to be a vocal coach lol. Growing up being around choir directors, singers and musicians has really helped me to bring a world wide of information and experience from Gospel, Classical Jazz etc.
What led you to take Taushey’s Vocal Lab from idea to pursuing it as a business?
During a pandemic of March 2020 people, students were constantly asking and stating that I should start my own vocal coaching company. I was already in the industry creating vocal arrangements and performing as a “Recording Artist, I always teach parts and enjoyed cultivated the different ensembles I was apart of. So when the pandemic happened it gave me free time to be able to start my own vocal coaching business right in my own home starting with virtual lessons. I also got accepted to be apart of a business program for free in which I gained over $3000 to help me with my business. who would’ve thought in his game for for almost four years teaching schools, music labels in studio sessions and more. even musical directing plays. Best decision I made turning my passion into my purpose.
How did you find your way into vocal coaching industry?
I found my way because I’ve already been in the music industry since I was kid. Since I was 9 years old recording with my family growing up, I always knew that a music was my got to place.
What’s your favorite thing about your workspace?
My favorite thing about my workspace is that I get to connect with other coaches learn from them grow from them and also able to give wisdom and knowledge to my clients and to help them be more confident in their gift through music. Its a true blessing to know that someone has a need need for my expertise and that I’ve truly found my purpose helping artists, and emerging singers locally and internationally.
Do you have a personal and/or professional motto or mantra that you call upon during tough times? What is it and what does it mean to you?
My personal and professional motto is to help heal, bring healing and resources to the ideas for those who are in need, and those who want to give up.
How do you pick back up on it when perhaps feeling uninspired?
I’m learning how I think consistent when I feel inspired messages keep accountability around me. There’s going to encourage me to keep on going and going to different workshops. Learning from people is doing better than me. It always modifies me to know that I can keep on going that I can learn new tactics. I can learn new skills to be able to just keep on pushing to not give up on how hard it gets.
What have you gained so far from being a part of the AccelerateHER cohort?
I’ve gained so much knowledge, so much inspirations and most importantly new friends. Being a part of the AcceleratHer Program us, has really enhance my passion and drive back to a place where there is no giving up or turning back now. I’ve learned how to say No and Raise The Price! “Hallelujah lol. I also learned new takeaways in my business. I have elevated new systems, implement new services and have demanded new standards in which I will continue to stick to it for the better. TVL will evolve for the better in 2024 as well as as bring something fresh and something sustainable to give me the longevity throughout my career and in my purpose.
Name a woman, past or present, whom you admire or look up to. Why?
Cheryl porter is someone I’ve always admire. She is a known Vocal Coach internationally and someone I use as a blue print for my business as A Vocal Coach/Business. She had a very successful having sustainable and achievable business. And i absolutely love her personality and just so many things I am trying to do with a scale workouts. She has really motivated me to keep on going Into have hope that one day that Tvl will become the go to company or be the inspiration for someone else as well.
