In this virtual Lunch + Learn, usability and UX expert, Dr. Erin Friess will elaborate upon how usability and UX should influence design to optimize results for both the creator and user and talk about usability testing to accomplish this. She'll briefly go over details about the fields and how you can apply concepts from them to what you do with time for questions afterward.
About the Speaker
Erin Friess received her PhD in Rhetoric and her MA in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. Her current research interests include user-centered design, usability and user experience (UX) testing, and workplace communication. Her recent work has appeared in Technical Communication Quarterly, the Journal of Business and Technical Communication, and the proceedings of CHI (ACM's conference for human factors in computing systems).
She is a member of the Society for Technical Communication, the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing, and ACM's SIGCHI. She enjoys gardening, crocheting, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers with her husband.
