Lunch + Learn: Design Essentials & Usability

  • Stoke 608 East Hickory Street #128 Denton, TX, 76205 United States (map)

When creating marketing materials to tell prospects what you or your business can offer, quality of design can impact whether your potential clients choose you or someone else. Join us for a Lunch + Learn lead by Dr. Erin Friess, Associate Professor in the Technical Communication Department at UNT, who will discuss design fundamentals, design "sins," and what elements to consider when creating for print and online, as well as talk about how good (and bad) design affects usability and comprehension on websites and other user interfaces. You'll leave this Lunch + Learn with an understanding of how to think and design like a pro.

Dr. Erin Friess received her PhD in Rhetoric and her MA in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. Her current research interests include user-centered design, usability and user experience (UX) testing, and workplace communication. Her recent work has appeared in Technical Communication Quarterly, the Journal of Business and Technical Communication, and the proceedings of CHI (ACM's conference for human factors in computing systems).

Lunch is provided by Stoke. This event is free for Stoke members, with a small charge for non-members. Please RSVP.
