Stoke Community Guidelines

Our Mission: To support entrepreneurs by increasing access to resources and fostering a strong sense of community.
Our Vision: For a thriving independent and creative economy in Denton.
Our Values: Authenticity + Connection + Creativity + Inclusivity + Learning

In Theory

The Stoke team keeps our mission, vision, and values in the forefront of our minds when making decisions about programs, events, the coworking space, and our community guidelines. We intentionally live out these values in the work that we do and our interactions with each person we encounter here at Stoke, and we ask that members of our community do the same.

We believe in the positive, transformative power of a healthy community and the enriching value of diversity. All the moving parts and different people at Stoke make us a strong, whole entity, and we want our space to feel welcoming and safe for every individual who walks through our doors. Our efforts combined with yours to do so will only make Stoke a better place to work, meet, and thrive.

In a shared and collaborative work space, it’s critical that we operate with a community-first mindset, and we hope that you will do your part to cultivate an inviting and healthy environment here with us.

In Practice

Authenticity

  • Know that you can bring your true, genuine self through those Stoke doors, and meet your neighbors when you have a moment. Show respect for them, their differences, their boundaries, and their personal property as you’d hope they’d do for you.

Connection

  • Remember that this space is ours and yours; consider your noise level and whether it’s heads-down work sprint time for your fellow coworkers, or if it’s time for a break and a brew. The collaborative collisions we’ve witnessed over a cup of coffee or during happy hour have been nothing short of beautiful, and we’re so thankful for the unique experiences that Stoke members bring to the table and share.

  • Read the room and be conscious of behaviors that could make others uncomfortable or feel alienated.

Creativity

  • Difficult problems require innovative solutions and this is at its core a creative process. We provide spaces and white boards for ideating and welcome a community of people with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and knowledge to bounce ideas off of.

  • We honor the creative culture of our local community and work to support local artists through our patronage as well as through the resources and amenities we offer.

Inclusivity

  • Treat all people fairly and with kindness, no matter their beliefs, background, age, race, sexual orientation, gender, or job title.

Learning

  • We’re not afraid to say that we learn as we go, and we firmly believe that we can all learn something from one another. Part of what makes the Stoke community so impactful is the experts, mentors, and lifelong learners that contribute to our conversations, programs, and events.
